Overview

IMU Position Estimator

Compare multiple IMU sensors or the error sources for one IMU model.

Overview The IMU Position Estimator app allows you to compare the results obtained by using multiple inertial measurement unit (IMU) sensors from a predefined list containing ADI’s sensors, such as: ADIS16507 ADIS16545 1 1 Sensor not yet released; scheduled early 2022. Please reach out to your local sales representative for more information about our automotive solutions. In addition to ADI’s sensors, the app also contains competitors' sensors marked as Competitor A, Competitor B, and Competitor C. Using the app, you can simulate the results and get the position error trajectory graph by customizing the following variables: Trajectory Iterations Sampling Frequency Getting Started Access the vLab page and navigate to Apps. Select the IMU Position Estimator app. Click Open App. Once a new project is created, you can see the Configuration field to your left and the Navigation Path View on your right. Figure 1. New project Configure 1. Choose the IMU Sensor(s) You can choose one or more IMU sensors from a predefined list containing ADI’s sensors, together with competitors' sensors. ADI’s sensors available for comparison are: ADIS16507 – compact size and performance IMU for applications such as last-mile delivery and drones. ADIS16550 – auto performance, auto qualified IMU targeted towards L4 applications. Competitors' sensors are marked as: Competitor A – this sensor has a medium cost and a medium performance. Competitor B – this sensor has a high cost and a medium performance. Competitor C – this sensor has a low cost and a low performance. 2. Add the Trajectory Inputs Once you selected the IMU sensor(s), you can add the parameters for Trajectory Inputs. 2.1. Choose a Trajectory for the IMU from the dropdown menu: Straight road with constant velocity 30 m/s Turn at constant speed 24 m/s (to stay below 0.4g friction limit) Soft brake, starting velocity 30 m/s, brake at 0.3g, no pitch angle Braking while turning, starting velocity 30 m/s, brake at 0.3g, no bank angle Road roughness, velocity 5 m/s, potholes or speed breakers create shocks Note: You can select only one option. 2.2. The Iterations must be configured considering the following: Only numerical values are accepted. Decimal numbers are not valid. The number of iterations must be between 25 and 100. Iterations lower than 50 are not recommended because the sigma position error output will not show very accurate results. 2.3. Enter the Sampling Frequency to determine the error domination considering the following: Only numerical values are accepted. Decimal numbers are not valid. The unit of measurement is hertz (Hz). The sampling frequency must be between 25 and 1 000 Hz. Sampling frequency lower than 300 is not recommended because it leads to faster error accumulation. Figure 2. Trajectory Inputs Run the Simulation After inputting (and double-checking) the values in your configuration, click Run. Within a few seconds, the IMU Position Estimator app will analyze the parameters you offered, and it will simulate the results in the Trajectory Output tab. Analyze Results In the Trajectory Output tab, you will find the trajectory graph for each selected IMU sensor. The graph will display the time (X-axis) and the 1 sigma position error (Y-axis). Figure 3. Trajectory Outputs Additional Features To look at graphs in more detail, you can click on the fullscreen icon to show the graphs on the entire screen. If you want to remove all the entered values from all the fields, click the reset icon on the top right corner of the Configuration panel. To download the Trajectory Output graph as CSV, click the download icon above the graph. User Guide

Magnetic Field Sensors

Select a magnetic sensor of choice, customize the settings and simulate the results.

vLab Designer provides solutions for creating larger systems using existing applications and reuse blocks created by vLab community. Drag and drop components on the canvas, adjust parameters, connect the blocks, and hit run. It's so easy!

Overview The Magnetic Field Sensors app allows you to model and simulate the function of Analog Devices' anisotropic magnetoresistive (AMR) technologies, such as: ADA4570 ADA4571 ADA4571-2 Using the app, you will be able to simulate the component's function and collect critical data regarding its performance in settings relevant to your desired application, according to several variable parameters: Sensor and magnet relative position Magnet dimensions Material Temperature Tolerances and geometry Getting Started Access the vLab page and navigate to Apps. Select the Magnetic Field Sensors app. Click Open App. Choose one product from the dropdown menu: ADA4570, ADA4571, or ADA4571-2. Once a new project is created, you can see the Product and Configuration fields to your left and the Diagram of the magnet and sensor on your right. Figure 1. New project Configure 1. Sensor Position The Magnetic Field Sensors app can simulate use of the tool with either an end-of-shaft position or one in a linear travel setup (e.g., the magnet moving parallel to the sensor). Different sensor positions will present different configuration options. 2. Configuration Parameters The configuration parameters vary according to the sensor position. 2.1. For end-of-shaft positioned sensors input: Magnet Dimension Temperature Magnet Material, along with the associated remanence in militesla (mT) and temperature coefficient in %/Kelvin format Tolerances – the maximum of alignment error and run out for X and Y, both in millimeters (mm) The following information should be taken into consideration in end-of-shaft configurations: Geometry/Travel distances are not a concern in this situation, so these parameters can be ignored. Specification of tolerances is important as it will provide information about how much offset or runout the system can withstand. If the magnet shape has a diametric or split axial shape, you will need to enter diameter data as opposed to length and width; height is analyzed for all magnet shapes. 2.2. For linear travel sensor input: Dimension, in millimeters (mm): height, length, width, and magnetic distance to sensor package edge Geometry, in millimeters (mm): initial Z and X travel distances as well as travel in the -X direction Temperature values for maximum and minimum, in Celsius (°C) or Fahrenheit (°F) Because ADA4570 and ADA4571 can operate in environments with a maximum temperature of 150°C, do not set the high-temperature value greater than 150. Figure 2. Configuration Run the Simulation After inputting (and double-checking) the values in your configuration, click Run. Within a few seconds, the Magnetic Field Sensors app will analyze the parameters you offered, and it will chart the results in the tabs above the main field of the app: Magnetic Field Output Voltage Error Analyze Results Each result tab will present you with the following data: Magnetic Field tab – displays the magnetic field seen at the senor, in the X and Y axes, as the magnet is rotated through a full mechanical revolution. The strength of the magnetic field is expressed in militesla (mT) and is shown high, low and room temperatures and angles from 0 to 360 degrees (°). Voltage tab – shows waveforms displaying the voltage of the output signals at high, low and room temperatures as the magnet is rotated. Error tab – displays the simulated accuracy of the sensor (magnet, sensor and ideal ADC) when amplitude and offset calibrations are completed. Note: If simulating the ADA4571-2, the results will include data for both channels. Figure 3. Results Additional Features To see the exact magnetic field strength, voltage output, or system error as the magnet is rotated, hover over the desired spot on the chart with your mouse, and the data will appear in a small rectangular box. You can customize the results shown on the graphs. If you wish to remove or re-add a result, click on the corresponding temperature button above the chart (Low Temperature, Room Temperature, High Temperature). If you run different configurations, you can access and compare the results in the Run Results field by clicking Run 1, Run 2 and so on. To look at graphs in more detail, you can toggle the Run Results field on or off, or click on the fullscreen icon to show the graphs on the entire screen. You can download the data in each tab in various formats: to export the simulated values as CSV, click the CSV icon above the chart. to export a screenshot as PNG, click the picture icon above the chart. 3DToF Box Dimensioning

Dimension objects in real time with this Time of Flight algorithm preview

Overview The 3DToF Box Dimensioning app allows you to get highly accurate measurements of the width, length, and height for physical boxes using Analog Devices' 3D Time-of-Flight imaging technology. After uploading the infrared and depth-camera images, the app calculates the boxes' dimensions in real-time using algorithms and high-precision depth sensors that are a cornerstone of Analog Devices' 3D ToF solutions. The app will provide solutions for various operations, such as: Package sorting and distribution for e-commerce fulfillment Carrier point-of-sale operations Warehouse automation Space optimization for your storage and moving business Getting Started Access the vLab page and navigate to Apps. Select the 3DToF Box Dimensioning app. Click Open App. Once the app is open, you can see the Demo Examples containing the camera module selection for the demo, images, and results: measurements together with the analyzed image. You will also have the option to add a new analysis by clicking on the Add Analysis button. Figure 1. Demo Examples Configure 1. Prepare Your Images Take pictures of the object you want to measure. It’s required to use the time-of-flight camera to take the images. You’ll need to have prepared two types of images: Depth Image Active Brightness Image (IR) If you don’t have images, a set is available for download. Click the Download Sample Images option. 2. Select Camera Module Type You must select the camera module type (the sensor) you used with the camera when you took the image. The app supports multiple time-of-flight camera modules: Kinect1 Kinect2 Kinect11 Kinect13 Walden017MP Walden017QMP Note: The list contains sensor nicknames. Resolution and depth range may vary. 3. Upload the Images To upload the images you have prepared earlier, the depth image and the active brightness image (IR), drag and drop the image into the corresponding fields or click the Select File button and find the desired image within your computer's file folders. You can upload one image at a time. For depth image, there should be a corresponding active brightness image (IR) and vice-versa. The app supports only PNG files with a maximum size of 5 MB. Figure 2. Upload Image Run the Simulation After selecting the camera module type and uploading the images (and double-checking your data), click Analyze. Within a few seconds, the 3DToF Box Dimensioning app will analyze the images you offered, and it will generate the results. Analyze Results The results displayed will present you with the following data: To the left, you will see the figures for the calculated measurements. Below the calculated measurements, you will have the option to enter the real measurements, and the app will automatically display the differences between the calculated and real measurements. At the center of the page, the analyzed image will be displayed. To the right, you will see the depth and active brightness (IR) images you uploaded. Figure 3. Waveform Analyzer

Analyse waveforms from any source, to visualize your data

Overview The Waveform Analyzer app allows you to analyze and visualize waveforms from any source and value data series, using various visualizations: Time Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) Spectrogram Data sources include but are not limited to audio signals, PPG (photoplethysmography), healthcare data, and voice and seismographic data. Using the app, you will be able to get precise data measurements with dedicated measurement guides. Getting Started Access the vLab page and navigate to Apps. Select the Waveform Analyzer app. Click Open App. Once the app is open, you can see the page where you will be able to upload the file you want to analyze and get started. Figure 1. New project Configure 1. Prepare Your Files The app supports only CVS files of a maximum size of 5MB. You can upload from any source or generate a waveform file using our Waveform Generator app. You can also access our sample file here. To download it, open the file, go to the File tab and choose Download. Then select the CSV format. 2. Upload Your File To upload the file you have prepared earlier or the sample you have downloaded, drag and drop the file into the corresponding field or click the Upload File button and find the desired CSV file within your computer's file folders. Figure 2. Upload File Run the Simulation Once the file is uploaded, the Waveform Analyzer app will analyze it and will generate the results. Analyze Results The results displayed will present you Time, Fast Fourier Transform (FFT), and Spectrogram visualizations. 1. Time Visualization In the Time visualization tab, a time plot of the CSV file is now displayed. The horizontal axis represents time (seconds) and the vertical axis represents amplitude, calculated in voltage (V). Hover over any point to see the time and amplitude values. Figure 3. Time Visualization 2. Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) Visualization The Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) visualization tab contains two graphs. In the amplitude graph, the horizontal axis represents hertz (Hz) and the vertical axis represents amplitude, calculated in voltage (V). In the power graph, the horizontal axis represents hertz (Hz) and the vertical axis represents decibels (dB). Hover over any point to see a quick display of the frequency components in the graph. Figure 4. FFT Visualization 3. Spectrogram Visualization The Spectrogram visualization is a combined view of the Time and FFT visualizations. The color on the graph represents the amplitude. Waveform Generator

Create and download waveforms for virtual and hardware use

Overview The Waveform Generator app allows you to generate modulated signals and tones and create various waveforms to test your signal chains or algorithms. The available modulation techniques are: Amplitude Modulation (AM) Frequency Modulation (FM) Phase Modulation (PM) Using the app, you will be able to customize your sample rates and get the dataset you need. Getting Started Access the vLab page and navigate to Apps. Select the Waveform Generator app. Click Open App. Once the app is open, you can see the Configuration field to your left. Figure 1. Choose the Modulation Technique From the dropdown menu, select the desired modulation technique from the following options: Amplitude Modulation (AM) Frequency Modulation (FM) Phase Modulation (PM) 2. Add the Sample Rate and Run Time The signal’s Sample Rate field is calculated in hertz (Hz) and Run Time field is calculated in milliseconds (ms). These fields are pre-populated. Update them with your data, if necessary. 3. Add the Carrier Parameters The Carrier parameters are: Amplitude – calculated in voltage (V) Frequency – calculated in hertz (Hz) Phase – calculated in degree (°) These fields are, as well, pre-populated. Update them with your data, if necessary. Note: The value of the Carrier Frequency must be lower than the one of the Sample Rate above. 4. Set the Baseband’s Values You will have one pre-populated wave: Wave 1. You will be able to update this wave with your data, if necessary. To do this, select the desired type of wave and update the Amplitude (V), Frequency (Hz), and Phase (Deg) fields. The available wave types are: Sawtooth Sinusoid Sinc Square Additionally, you will have the possibility to add new waves by clicking the Wave button. The newly created wave will also have pre-populated and editable fields. At any point, you will be able to remove any wave, by clicking the Remove button. Figure 2.
